Silver Medal and New Canadian Officials

Learn more about it

The Canadian junior badminton athletes performed outstandingly at the XXXII Pan Am Junior Championships held from July 11-19, 2024, in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Competing in both Individual and Team Junior Competitions, the young Canadian athletes showcased exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship.

Team Competition Highlights

The Canadian team excelled in the team events, facing strong opponents from Trinidad & Tobago, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, and the United States. Demonstrating strategic plays and cohesive teamwork, the team secured a well-deserved silver medal, proudly earning their place on the podium.

“For most of our Junior athletes, the Pan Am Junior Championships is their first exposure to competition outside of Canada and their first opportunity to represent their country. Anytime you can wear Team Canada colours is a great honour. It also allows them to gauge their abilities against those in the Pan Am region. The Pan Am Junior Championships for our U19 team is a great prelude to the World Junior Championships in China in October,” said Mike Butler, National Head Coach.
