The YONEX Canada Para Badminton International Returns to Ottawa, ON!

From June 14-18, 2023, the best Para Badminton athletes from around the world will compete in Ottawa in a Paris Paralympic 2024 and Santiago Parapan Am qualifying event!

Badminton Canada is excited for the return of elite Para Badminton competition to Canada, with the 2023 YONEX Canada Para Badminton International taking place at Monpetit Hall at the University of Ottawa, from June 14th to 18th 2023. With an amazing location in the heart of Ottawa, the event will be an exceptional experience for athletes, spectators and volunteers!

This will be the second edition of the event and it is part of the Badminton World Federation’s (BWF) Para Badminton World Circuit 2023; a Paris 2024 Paralympic qualifying event, and as well as the final qualifying event in the Race to Santiago – 2023 Parapan Am Games! As one of only four top Level 1 events in the calendar, the Canada Para Badminton International will feature the best para badminton athletes from across the world.

Last year in 2022, the event was a huge success due to the amazing support from Ottawa Tourism, the University of Ottawa and the many volunteers who gave their time during the competition. "I am proud that Badminton Canada and the City of Ottawa was selected by the Badminton World Federation to host the 2023 YONEX Canada Para-Badminton International” stated Executive Director, Jordan Bridal. “Hosting the highest level of para badminton offered in the world goes with our mission of being a leading sport for inclusivity and fair play. With over 200 athletes set to be in attendance, we look forward to welcoming all for another fantastic event this summer. As always this event would not be possible without the generous support from our partners at YONEX Canada, Government of Canada and Ottawa Tourism. "

Ottawa Tourism is again a driving force behind the delivery of the event and Badminton Canada is thankful for their generous and professional assistance with hosting. "Ottawa Tourism is very pleased to see such an impressive para sporting event return to our city" said Michael Crockatt, President & CEO of Ottawa Tourism, "and we are proud partners in welcoming international athletes, coaching staff, familes and fans toour beautiful city."

This is a FREE event for spectators! Come out and show your support for these amazing athletes as we welcome the return of international para badminton to Canada at the University of Ottawa’s Montpetit Hall, June 14th-18th, 2023!
